🐦 Agbigbo The Great Β· A Children’s Tale

πŸ“’ LONG, LONG AGO… when the world was very different, humans and animals were best friends! They lived together, talked together, and even helped each other. Some animals were super special – they had magical powers! ✨

In a faraway town called Igbala, there lived a BIG, MYSTERIOUS bird named Agbigbo. This wasn’t just any bird – he had amazing powers! He could disappear and appear whenever he wanted, and he could read people’s minds! (POOF! πŸ’¨)

The king of Igbala (the Ọba) gave Agbigbo a very special title: “Agbigbo The Great!” πŸ‘‘

πŸ‘‘ Page 2 🌳

The king’s helpers told him all about Agbigbo: “He’s the King of Trees! He protects all the birds who live in trees. Nobody dares to hurt the birds or cut down trees because they’re afraid of Agbigbo!”

Another helper added: “Agbigbo flies from tree to tree watching everyone. He can see what people are thinking! When he shows himself, he helps people who are being treated unfairly. He HATES unfairness!” (πŸ‘€ watching…)

And that’s how Agbigbo got his fancy titles: “Alade Ori Igi” (King of Trees) and “Ọtọsi Arin l’Ọtọ” (The One Who Walks Alone). Cool names, right? 😎

πŸ—£οΈ Page 3 πŸ’

Everyone in town talked about Agbigbo, especially people with problems. They wished he would help them! (🀞 wishing…)

One day, two friends were talking about a man named Karimu. “Oh no, poor Karimu! He needs help so badly! His first wife is being SO mean to him and his second wife!”

Karimu’s first wife was named Saraje. She was NOT nice at all! (😠 grumpy face!)

πŸ’ Page 4 😲

When Karimu wanted to marry Saraje, she said something strange: “I’m already married… to my WORK! If I marry you, you’ll have to take another wife!” (πŸ€” what??)

Karimu thought she was joking. But she wasn’t! After they married, Saraje cared more about trading than about her family. She was always away working, and Karimu said: “Please stay home more! We have enough money!”

But Saraje just said: “Take another wife!” (😲 gasp!)

πŸ’• Page 5 πŸ‘°

So Karimu married a second wife named Fara. She was kind, gentle, and hard-working. They loved each other very much! (πŸ’– love is in the air!)

πŸ’” Page 6 😒

But then something TERRIBLE happened! Karimu’s business went wrong and he lost almost all his money. (πŸ’Έ money gone!)

At the same time, both wives had babies! Saraje had baby Furasa, and Fara had baby Bolu. (πŸ‘ΆπŸ‘Ά two babies!)

Now Karimu had no job and two babies to feed. He was very worried. (😟 oh no!)

😠 Page 7 πŸ’’

Karimu went to Saraje and said: “I don’t have much money now. Can you please help with your money?”

Saraje got ANGRY! (πŸ’’ BOOM!) She shouted: “Use MY money? NEVER! You should be ashamed! Other men provide for their families!”

Karimu was shocked. He couldn’t believe what he was hearing. (😱 shocked face!)

🍽️ Page 8 😀

Saraje made life very hard for everyone. She was in charge of food, but only put out a tiny bit for Karimu and Fara. She ate well herself though! (πŸ˜‹ munch munch – but not sharing!)

She even stopped taking care of her own baby, Furasa! Poor little Furasa was hungry and neglected. (😒 baby crying…)

But kind Fara looked after Furasa like she was her own. (πŸ’• what a kind heart!)

😈 Page 9 πŸ’”

Saraje was actually VERY jealous of Fara. She pretended she wanted Karimu to marry again, but secretly she was angry. (😀 grrr!)

She made Fara do all the hard work: fetch water from the river, go to the market, wash clothes, clean the house. And she was always mean and quarrelsome. (πŸ—£οΈ yap yap yap!)

But Fara stayed kind and patient. She just wanted everyone to get along. (πŸ•ŠοΈ peace!)

🌴 Page 10 πŸ₯₯

Fara wanted to help her family. So every day, she carried baby Bolu on her back and went to a swampy farm called oko-ira. She picked palm kernels to sell for a tiny bit of money. (πŸ’ͺ hard work!)

It was exhausting, but Fara never complained. She just wanted to help her family. (😊 smile through it all!)

🐦 Page 11 πŸ‘€

But someone was watching Fara… AGbigbo The Great! He saw how hard she worked and how much she loved her baby. (πŸ‘€ watching from the tree…)

One day, Fara wrapped baby Bolu in soft banana leaves under a tall palm tree. As she bent down to pick kernels, WHOOSH! Agbigbo swooped down and carried the baby high up into the tree! (πŸ¦… WHOOSH!)

When Fara came back and saw her baby was GONE, she screamed: “WHERE’S MY BABY? OH NO! BOLU!” (😱 AAAAAHHHH!)

🎡 Page 12 🎢

Fara looked up and saw her baby in Agbigbo’s arms! She started to sing a special song to the great bird. Long ago, people sang instead of talking when they had big feelings. (🎀 sing with me!)

πŸ”Š LISTEN to Fara’s song!

“Agbigbo ba mi gb’ọmọ mi ko mio
Alade ori igi
Ọtọsi Arin l’Ọtọ
Roro ọgαΊΉdαΊΉ lo fi npọmọn”

She was saying: “Please return my baby! You are the King of Trees! My baby is wrapped in soft banana leaves – please give him back!”

🎁 Page 13 ✨

Agbigbo listened. Then – PLOP! – he dropped a big parcel down. Fara opened it and found GOLD, SILVER, DIAMONDS, and beautiful jewelry! (✨ KABLING! ✨)

But Fara cried: “I don’t want treasure! I want my BABY!” She sang again:

πŸ”Š Fara sings again!
πŸ’° Page 14 πŸ’Ž

PLOP! Another parcel – even BIGGER! Fara opened it and found MORE treasure than she could ever imagine! Clothes, shoes, money, beautiful things! (πŸ’ŽπŸ’° WOW! πŸ’°πŸ’Ž)

But Fara fell to the ground crying: “PLEASE AGbigbo! I just want my baby back! Nothing else matters!” She sang a third time:

πŸ”Š Fara’s third song!
πŸ•ŠοΈ Page 15 πŸ‘Ά

Finally, Agbigbo flew down and gently returned baby Bolu to his mother! (πŸŽ‰ HOORAY! πŸŽ‰)

The great bird said: “You are a GOOD woman. You truly love your child more than treasure. Keep all the gifts – you deserve them. You’ll never have to work so hard again.”

POOF! Suddenly, helpers appeared to carry all the treasure home for Fara. (✨ magic helpers! ✨)

πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ Page 16 πŸ’¨

Fara rushed home. First, she told Saraje everything. “Look at all this treasure! We can all share it and be happy!”

But Saraje’s eyes grew big and GREEDY. (πŸ’° dollar signs in eyes! πŸ’°) She said: “I can do that too! I’ll take MY baby to Agbigbo and get EVEN MORE treasure!”

😱 Page 17 πŸ™…β€β™€οΈ

Fara was horrified! “NO, Saraje! Don’t do it! When Agbigbo took my baby, my heart almost broke! I thought I would die! It was TERRIBLE!”

But Saraje wouldn’t listen. “You just want more treasure for yourself! I’m going tomorrow!” (😀 stubborn!)

Fara begged: “At least tell Karimu! Furasa is his daughter too!”

But Saraje sneered: “Karimu has no power over me!” (πŸ‘Ž mean!)

🌴 Page 18 πŸ‘€

The next day, Saraje went to the swampy farm with baby Furasa. She wrapped her in banana leaves under the same tree. (πŸ‘Ά poor baby!)

She saw Agbigbo on the tree and thought: “Why doesn’t he take my baby? I want treasure NOW!”

Agbigbo could READ HER MIND! He was shocked: “This mother WANTS her baby taken away? How terrible!” (😲 gasp!)

😈 Page 19 πŸ’

Saraje got impatient. She looked up and MOCKED Agbigbo: “Some ‘Great’ bird you are! Can’t even take my baby!” (😀 rude!)

Agbigbo thought: “You want me to show how GREAT I am? Fine!”

πŸ¦… Page 20 🎡

When Saraje turned her back, WHOOSH! Agbigbo took baby Furasa up into the tree! (πŸ¦… WHOOSH!)

Saraje turned around and SAW her baby gone. But instead of crying, she was HAPPY! She started singing the same song Fara sang:

πŸ”Š Saraje sings (but with a greedy heart!)
πŸ“¦ Page 21 😱

PLOP! PLOP! Two parcels came down. Saraje RUSHED to open them, dreaming of gold and diamonds… (πŸ’° imagine treasure… πŸ’°)

But when she opened them… (😱 GASP!) Instead of treasure, she found:

πŸ“¦ One parcel: PILES of plain old palm kernels
πŸ“¦ Other parcel: THORNS, WEEDS, smelly old food scraps, and bones! (🀒 YUCK! 🀒)

Agbigbo was LAUGHING at her from the tree, with baby Furasa safe in his arms. (πŸ˜† HA HA HA!)

😭 Page 22 πŸ’”

Saraje sang AGAIN, but Agbigbo just flew away with baby Furasa. (πŸ¦… fly away…)

Now Saraje realized what she had done. She had lost her baby FOREVER because of her greed. She was ashamed, scared, and all alone. (😭 cry cry cry…)

When she got home, Karimu was FURIOUS. (😠 WHERE IS FURASA?”) Fara was shaking with fear.

Saraje ran to her room and escaped that night, never to be seen again. (πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸ’¨ gone!)

πŸ—£οΈ Page 23 πŸ“’

Everyone in town talked about mean Saraje. “What a wicked woman!” “Imagine trading your baby for treasure!” “She should be so ashamed!”

πŸŽ‰ Page 24 πŸ‘Ά

But wait! A few days later, something WONDERFUL happened! Agbigbo found Karimu walking through the forest and DROPPED a stone near him. Karimu looked up and saw… FURASA! (πŸŽ‰ BABY IS BACK! πŸŽ‰)

Agbigbo flew down, returned the baby, and disappeared before Karimu could even say thank you. (✨ POOF! ✨)

πŸ’• Page 25 🏠

Karimu and Fara took such good care of Furasa and Bolu. They lived happily together, with all the treasure Agbigbo gave them. (😊 happy family! 😊)

Everyone praised Agbigbo: “You ARE truly great, Agbigbo The Great!”

And Saraje? Nobody ever saw her again. She learned that greed and meanness lead to loneliness. (😒 the end for mean Saraje…)

🐦 THE MORAL πŸ’–

Love your family more than treasure!
Kind hearts are rewarded, greedy hearts end up alone.

✨ Just like Fara and Agbigbo showed us! ✨
